Detail Description of Services:

AAROTEC prepared, for the Asian Development Bank, a comprehensive and integrated project for development of airport and related civil aviation infrastructure at the Pontianak, Sorong and Samarinda airports. The project: (i) reviewed the previous master plans and prepared a revised master plan, feasibility study, and preliminary terminal expansion designs for the Pontianak Airport; (ii) prepared a master plan and feasibility study for the Sorong Daratan Airport; (iii) prepared a master plan and feasibility study for the new Samarinda Airport; (iv) updated the sector policy and institutional analysis that was prepared under Bank assistance in 1992; (v) examined the potential role for the private sector at each of the three project airports and for the sector as a whole; and (vi) finalized the environmental and social aspects of the project.

Services provided were: (i) airport planning; (ii) architectural and engineering design of airport terminals and ancillary buildings; (iii) airport civil engineering, airport pavement design, and soils analysis and testing, and river and estuarine hydrology; (iv) location, planning, and design of navigational aids, aviation telecommunications, the layout of air traffic control (ATC) facilities, and the design of ATC operations procedures; (v) civil aviation policy and institutional reform in a civil aviation context; (vi) air transport economics and finance; and (vii) human resources development.
